I combined a couple of tricks I know to make this image yesterday. Instead of just shooting a single image for each panel to be stitched together, I shot a bracket of 3 (+/- 1.5). I merged each trio of images and then stitched the merged version together for the panoramic.
FInally, I pulled the assembled image into Lightroom to put on the final touches (color & contrast adjustments). I like HDR, but I don't like the cartoonish effects associated with it. I used it lightly in this case to avoid blowouts in the sky and get shadow detail while still looking as realistic as possible.
It's a long hard climb on a mountain bike to get to this spot near the top of the Canyon Creek trail near Whitepine, Co. Especially if you bring your tripod! I think this one came out ok, but it's not prefect because I rushed it a little. The weather was closing in and I had to get to a lower altitude fast! I guess I should have gotten an earlier start.
