A few friends and I ended up doing an 80 Mile out and back on the White Rim trail on Saturday. We had planned to do the loop but then through indecision, wanting to miss the bad sandy sections we kept hearing about, and then oversleeping the morning of, we had to go shorter. We even thought about doing it all by the full moon but it was a bit on the chilly side so we thopught we'd sleep a bit and then start by 6:00 to meet the other group who were going the other direction at around the half way point (Murphy's Hogback). When I noticed it was light out in the morning I knew we had blown it.
The other group (an annual birthday celebration ride for a friend) also made really good time, so we ended up meeting them when we were only about 40 Miles in. But no big deal.
We got a nice big ride in on a beautiful day in the SE Utah desert. I have no complaints about that.
