Just a few recent shots of some fall colors and a minnow we caught in the ditch (and later released). Alden and I also went to Hartman's for some trail work but ended up just hiking around onthe new Free Fall reroute and riding Hogsback afterward.

2008-10-15 Update: a few from our after dinner ride to the creek in tonight's nice light. 

No advertising, no registration, no prizes. But some of the best riders around come to do the grueling 100 Mile CB Classic just for the fun or maybe the bragging rights. 

This year started off pretty chilly, got warm in the afternoon, and then rained for a lot of people's final lap. That part looked cold. Here are a bunch of photos I took, first from Deer Creek and then from a few spots on 401. The last few (without riders) are from Ohio Pass on the way home while many riders were still behind those mountains getting stormed on.

We had a fun and fast (by my standards) Crest ride yesterday. It was a big group but without all the delays of any big groups I've ridden with before. My friend and workmate Tim came up from Taos to ride with the local crew. I think he had a good time!

Originally I was going to do Agate Creek because there was a big event on the Crest but we decided to just try and start in front of everyone. We didn't get it together fast  enough to start ahead, but after a few Miles we passed most of the (lots of) people ahead. I got stuck behind some slow motorcycles for a while which was kind of weird and annoying.Other than that and four flats among the group (none for me) it was a very smooth ride. 

I must have bumped the camera when I set up for the group shot. At least the only one I cut off was me!

 

  

  

A couple of shots from Sunday with Keith and the rest from a ride with Bill (MrMountainHop on Spokejunkies) from LA on Monday night. I think he liked our home trails.

We had an exciting day watching the race at Leadville. A bunch of friends did it, and one of them, Dave Wiens won it! Better yet, he battled Lance Armstrong all day to pull it off. Lance came in a little dirty so we think he must have crashed although Dave said he didn't see it. Dave came in at 6:45:45 setting a new course record and putting almost two minutes on Lance. Ethan Passant of Crested Butte did a very respectable 4th place after being sick during the week.The race aparently played out much like last year's against Floyd Landis. Just like last year Dave dented a rim and came across the line with a flat tire, but he pulled it off. Nice work, Dave!

Our friend Rick completed his 11th Leadville 100 which was also very impressive. His son Garrison did his first. Great job Rick and Garrison!

And Carol, Jarral, John, and everyone else too! I'm truly impressed with all the great efforts.You guys rock!
